What to Expect Before and After My Session

This Natural Therapy (Resolve) is about exploration and resolution of unresolved experiences and / or trauma.  I believe you (the client) have the desire and the capacity to grow towards fulfilling your own potential and that you are the expert on your own life. My role as the practitioner is to facilitate this journey through your awareness and understanding of yourself and your situation as well as those things that are limiting your personal expression.  Please note by law I am unable to make any medical diagnosis.

After Your Session

How you feel immediately after a session and the changes you experience in the following days and beyond is very individual.  Immediately following a session, you may feel very energetic or very tired.  Some clients report feeling “lighter” or “more grounded.”  Whatever your individual response to the session know that it is your body and mind doing what it needs to in order to activate your natural healing ability, and doing that in its own unique way.

Energy is one of the main ingredients for our healing so if you feel as if you have lots of energy after your session try not to spend it!  Relax as much as you can for the rest of the day.  If you feel tired it is just your natural healing process taking available energy to further resolve the pattern revealed in the session, so again relax and let your subconscious do its job.

However, you choose to relax – sitting in the sun, a walk on the beach, resting with a book, even just not doing more than you have to for the rest of the day – allow your healing ability to get on with the process.

Ongoing Resolution

In the days and weeks following the session, your subconscious will continue to resolve whatever it can.  Ensuring sufficient resources (e.g. rest, nutrition,) and making changes in your life (the brain doesn’t pay attention to what is the same or to what has become a habit in your life) all support your continued resolving and healing.

As every person on this planet in unique, how much you will be able to move your resolution and healing forward will be for you to discover.  Notice what you notice.   Expect everything and nothing.  Just notice what changes and what doesn’t.  No judgement, no blame, everything “just is.”  By just noticing you will be developing your conscious brain awareness of what your subconscious brain is doing in its work to move you forward on your healing path.

The progression you notice may be some big “a-ha’s” changes in your symptom pattern or you may just notice subtle things such as instances where something happens and you think to yourself “that was different” as you find yourself responding differently to people or events.

Healing Process

When we have a trauma, shock, threat, illness or experience of any kind that we do not have the resolution for the brain will very often suppress the issue so that we can cope with each day.  Sometimes an unresolved experience and the accompanying symptoms will be suppressed by techniques and remedies that were not appropriate for the person at the time.

Once you resource available (energy, nutrition, subconscious understand of the pattern) the brain will bring the pattern “up” to work on it.  Getting to the “backlog” of repairs so to speak!  This can manifest in a number of ways including feeling tired and experiencing some of the old symptoms.  You may find yourself thinking “I haven’t felt like this since…” “I thought I had got over these symptoms,” “Why is this happening when I was feeling so good?”

Rest assured feeling tired or experiencing previous symptoms is just your mind/body working to resolve these issues.  You now have the energy for your brain to revisit a previously suppressed pattern and start to resolve it so all the symptoms come to the surface.  While sometimes difficult to accept the healing process, just know that your subconscious is using your natural healing ability and doing what it is supposed to do.

Do I need another session?

As you notice what is changing and what is not, you will be the first to know how this natural therapy is working for you.  If you feel your issues and symptoms have not completely gone make another appointment. You may well know after the first visit that you are “on the right track.”

For most people their issues and symptoms have been there for a long time, and it is often not possible to resolve these in just one session: possible, yes, but not usually so.

How soon should I have the next session?

Two to three weeks between sessions initially is good timing.  Many clients then find that as they move along their healing path once a month or less is sufficient.

What to bring to the next session

Notice what has changed and what has not changed

Make a list to bring to the next session of the changes and what appears to be not changing.  This helps to develop awareness of self.  Some people like to keep a journal.

Notice possible triggers

  • Thoughts that keep going around in their heads or just keep cropping up
  • Memories that are with you all the time
  • Things you said and wished you hadn’t
  • Things other people said that still hurt
  • Something they did or didn’t do
  • Something that is “in your head” all the time
  • These are intrusive memory cues and can be connected to specific body parts
  • Lists / Information
  • Times you continually wake in the night (if insomnia is an issue)
  • Drawings – draw your stress and bring the drawings
  • Anything else you feel may be relevant
